I've bunned, wigged, washed, conditioned, set, twisted, braided, protective styled my hair to the gods for the last five months. I woke up 2 days ago tired and with a headache. Something in my spirit told me I could pull my hair back no more.
I needed to see what was really good in that jungle of new growth. So I washed my hair, sprayed it with heat protectant spray, and got to work with the flat iron. And I mean I gave it that work! Took forever to get through it.
Almost gave up but I'm not one to walk around with all of my hair pressed. I finally finished and was able to drag myself to a bigger mirror to what has been going on up there for the past 5 months. And here is what I saw...

Just touching waist length!
Even though this is the longest I've ever been in my life I'm not ready to pop a bottle just yet. I'm just touch WSL not full WSL.
May 2013 (after only a light dusting of ends. Only cut I did this year was around January, which was about 2 1/2-3 inches. Put me behind a bit but was trying to hurry along this transition to natural. Next cut won't be until Dec. or Jan. 2014) My hair now measures from my hairline back, 26" (in the May 2012 picture above I was just barely 23"), and from my crown down 18"
Might not make it there until December. Until then I'll just have a bag of popcorn to celebrate small victories.
