Baggy & Stimulate

My theory that opening the hair root allows for deeper penetration of vitamins, minerals, oils, and growth aides.

It's simple really. You just combine a beneficial, non pore clogging oil (Example: coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, etc.) with a stimulant like peppermint, cayenne pepper, or mustard seeds (in mustard oil).

For an added kick use an abundant body mineral like sulfur (aka flowers of sulfur, bka sublimed sulfur), and/or a well known growth aide like Castor oil to increase the growth.

Then you want to generate a heat and/or steam to open the hair root and pores. The easiest way to do this is to put on a plastic cap followed by a thick scarf or hat. This allows your body to create the heat or steam which will open your hair root up allowing for deeper penetration of the oils.

Try it a few days a week either for a few hours on wash days (or overnight and wash in the morning) and see if you notice a change in your growth after 30 days.

A  few of the best carrier oils that are most suitable for human skin and hair:

  • Coconut oil: Moisturizes dry scalp while also having anti-fungal and antibacterial properties due to containing lauric acid. Has straight chain glycerides which makes it one of the few oils to have the ability to penetrate into the hair shaft. Prevents loss of protein from hair. Contains magnesium, calcium, potassium, and iron.

  • Olive oil: Contains hydroxytyrosol which is a very rare antioxidant that prevents free radical damage on skin cells. This compound not only absorbs well into the skin but also has a very potent anti-inflammatory property. This antioxidant moisturized skin well because of its hydrophilic properties that allow it to form a protective barrier on your skin trapping moisture. It does not clog pores. Much like coconut oil, it too has straight chain glycerides allowing it to penetrate deep into the hair shaft. Contains vitamin A and E.

  • Avocado oil: Very rich in vitamin E (higher than any fruit), this makes it a powerful antioxidant that protects white blood cells. It has a natural hydrating ability that allows it to penetrate deeply into the skin's squamous layer. It has an ability to retain water thus making it act as an emollient. Due to it containing both vitamin C and E it helps increase blood circulation to the scalp and hair follicles. Like coconut & olive oil, it is also one of the few oils that penetrate deep into the hair shaft carrying with it vitamin A,B, and some minerals like zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, & potassium.

  • Jojoba oil: Closest oil to our scalp's own natural sebum. This is helpful in balancing out scalp oil production. Too much natural sebum on the scalp can clog pores and reduce hair growth. But jojoba oil which is similar to sebum, not only does not block pores, but can actually help keep them (your pores) clean and free from sebum blockage. Contains vitamin E, B complex, and minerals like chromium, copper, and zinc. Jojoba oil also has anti-biotic, anti-fungal, antibacterial, ant-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant properties. While it doesn't penetrate the hair shaft it does keep it soft while also locking in moisture.
Note: Hair penetrating oils like coconut and olive actually do penetrate even deeper when combined.

So we have all these vitamins in these oils that contribute to the body. But I wanted to add one more thing.

Drum roll!

The third most abundant mineral in the human body.

Sulfur!!!

Hair (skin & nails) are made up of a protein called keratin which contains a large amount of sulfur in it. Sulfur transports oxygen which aides in cellular regeneration.

When hair follicles receive a good amount of oxygen nutrients are then released into the hair shaft and this supports healthy hair growth (and explains why H2O is good for hair but that's for another post).

I know B vitamins are great for hair too but I'm unsure if the molecules are small enough in pill form to enter the hair's root so it's best to stick with oils (that can penetrate) that contain the vitamin like the ones I listed above.

Note: Sulfur is also present in some B vitamins like biotin and thiamine. The lack of B vitamins and minerals like sulfur, zinc, and magnesium in a diet can lead to hair loss.

An alternative to sulfur for many is castor oil. Some swear by this old school hair remedy.

So now I've named my stimulants, some of the best carrier oils for the stimulants, and an oxygen booster. So where does the baggy come in?

Opening the root of the hair in general allows hair to grow a bit faster (or at least at a normal rate).

So I needed to devise a plan to do just that. Open the root so that the scalp and hair can receive the full benefits of these oil mixtures.

What's the easiest way to do that? Scalp massage, heat, and steam all open up the hair's root.

We replaced a hand massage with things like peppermint, rosemary, lavender, mustard seed oil, and cayenne. Now how do I get the heat and/or steam?

From my body!

By placing a plastic cap on heat and/or steam gets trapped inside which opens pores and hair roots. So now the already deep penetrating vitamin & mineral rich oils can penetrate even deeper into the skin and roots.

Another added benefit is that heat & steam also opens hair cuticles which allows for even deeper penetration of the oils into the hair shaft too!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  1. You can cover your plastic cap with a scarf or hat to generate even more steam/heat
  2. Best to do it on or the day before a wash/co-rinse day so if you sweat too much you can clean/rinse your hair after.
  3. Don't do it more than 4 days a week. You know what they say about too much of a good thing.
  4. Don't apply a moisturizer when doing this. Your scalp will provide more than enough moisture. Doing so could cause soggy hair.
  5. Doing it anywhere from 2hrs to sleeping with it in overnight is okay (if you plan on washing. See #2) but don't walk around with a bag on your head all day and night for a week. Your scalp has to breath, and your hair could get sweaty, stinky, and moisture overloaded.
  6. Dont apply to hair that is in braids, weave, or any style that prevents you from fully rinsing it out. This is also goes for castor oil in some cases.

I hope this helps!

  1. Castor oil is one of the best hair growth oil which can also be used for eyelashes, eyebrow growth and many more. The best part about castor oil is that it is 100% organic and free of chemicals and any sort of preservatives.
