A Short List Of Great Books On Healthy African Textured Hair Care

The Science Of Black Hair by Audry Davis-Sivasothy - This is the 3.0 class course of hair right here. If you want to start lower keep scrolling down because this right here is an advanced level.

Grow It by Chicoro - Please note that this is a very thin book but that does not make it any less valuable. She can save years heartache and frustration with her advice on trimming, ph balance, and protective styling. This is the 2.0 of hair growth.

Curly Like Me by Teri LaFlesh - Don't ignore this book because Teri has a looser curl pattern than you. Her advice on conditioner is worth gold to type 3 and 4 hair types. I even used her method while relaxed bone straight and got results. Don't sleep on her.

Ultra Black Hair by Cathy Howse - Great starter book (1.0). Cathy was one of the first people to write extensively about black hair care.  This book helped me a lot when I started my relaxed hair journey. Since this has been published Cathy has gone natural but most of her steps remain the same.

Curly Girl Handbook by Lorraine Massey - Great book for type 2 and 3 hair. Even type 4A can find something useful in these pages.

400 Years Without A Comb by Willie L Morrow - An expensive book, but a book I think every African American should own (and every African than wants to educate themselves on African American history should too) keep on their coffee table, and pass down through their families as a new tradition.

This book is not a how to book. this is more of a book about why African Americans have the hair traditions we do told through a journey through history. I have listed this collectible book because I think it's important to understand the reason behind our past down traditions before we can correct them properly.
