Hair Stuff That Is The Truth

Was talking to my friend the other day about things I've done to my hair the past 6 months. I chose to use some thing that may be less common in most hair conversations outside of maybe hair boards, but are the truth. He is a quick list of things I swear by.

1) EGG HAIR MASK: You can apply it strait to the hair or mix it into a conditioner. If you apply it straight don't apply heat and rinse with cool water ONLY. Some people separate the yoke from the white as one strength ends while the other gives off great shine. I don't separate. I find it comes out great by just adding an egg to moisturizing condition. Kind of feels like Aphogee 2 minute that way giving you soft yet strong hair. I leave it in for an hour.

Small Hair Update

Okay, so I'm WSL... But not FULL waist length yet. I cut my hair right before the summer to help hurry along this transition and to allow my hair bulk to move downward (where the thickest part of my hair ends). My hair grows in this "V" shape due to my crown growing the fastest. This is not a real issue other than the last 2 inches remain thin for a few months.

Lowering The PH Of My Shampoo

Just a short blog to talk about playing with the PH of my shampoo (or rather shampoos I have purchased that I could tell were off in PH). I've been up on the PH info since 1999. I don't talk much about because so many other bloggers do. I figure I'd be beating a dead horse. I figured today I'd let you in on how I get around the issue.

First Attempt At Homemade Protein Treatment

What is that green, alien-like, goo in that bowl?

Jello!

I know, let me explain.

What Helped Me Stretch/Transition

Having stretched relaxers ( & texlaxes), and having been on a long term transition to natural for about 2 years and five months, I can tell you a little bit about how to get over that bumpy road.

So here is my list of things that got me through the battle to win the war of the feuding hair textures.

Best Hair Type Chart On The Net!

RenieceHairTV on YouTube put up one of the best hair texture charts I've ever seen using the clients from her salon. I just wanted to give her a shout out and tell everyone to comment, rate, & subscribe to her channel. Oh, and one more thing. Pass on her videos, they are amazing!

Hair Update for May 18, 2013

I've bunned, wigged, washed, conditioned, set, twisted, braided, protective styled my hair to the gods for the last five months. I woke up 2 days ago tired and with a headache. Something in my spirit told me I could pull my hair back no more.

I needed to see what was really good in that jungle of new growth. So I washed my hair, sprayed it with heat protectant spray, and got to work with the flat iron. And I mean I gave it that work! Took forever to get through it.

Almost gave up but I'm not one to walk around with all of my hair pressed. I finally finished and was able to drag myself to a bigger mirror to what has been going on up there for the past 5 months. And here is what I saw...

Update on BFF hair progress!

So folks that have been following me for a minute know that I brought my friend into this hair journey I've been on. She was kind enough to believe in what I suggested to stick with it since the spring of 2011. I could NEVER express in words her progress so here are the photos. May they inspire many to keep going.

Oh yeah, she is a type 4C, from relaxed to mildly texlaxed (done once a year). Her routine is similar to mine. Only difference is she uses more castor oil than I do in my mix (hers is 50/50 castor oil/olive oil).

Starting picture from 4-5-2011.

My Go To Twists!

When I don't want to bothered with combing my hair these twists get the job done. I wash/co-rinse them, moisturize & seal them, and wrap then to keep them smooth just like my loose hair. And yes, I even bun them to protect my ends! I don't have fake hair added. This is just twists with the hair on my head.

Henna For Strength

I usually wait until the last Sunday of every 2nd month to do a henna treatment (if I don't opt for Aphogee instead) but I am in great need of one so tomorrow it is.

This is one of my most favorite things to do to keep my hair strong. It helped me get to MBL pretty darn well by retaining my length. I got a lot less breakage using it because it was added protection to my ends.

New Year New Goals!

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday! I wore my hair natural for Christmas and straight for New Years. I may not wear my hair straight for a long time so New Year's may mark the date of the last time I see my here because I'm going back in the bon mot in a little bit. I'm trying to reach that new goal of waist length so I have to be on my grind.
